Linear bearings are a type of bearing that support the load of the carriage during its single-axis linear movement and provide a low friction sliding surface for the guide rail. The two main classes of linear bearings are rolling and plain linear bearings.

Schneeberger Linear Technology
With the first Schneeberger Linear Guide ways conceived and developed by Schneeberger over 90 years ago, the foundation was established for the worldwide linear technology of today. Our original guidelines for the construction of linear guideways defined the criteria for load bearing capacity, reliability and economy. These schneeberger guidelines quickly became industry standards which are still valid today.
SCHNEEBERGER offers a wide range of high-quality products for linear motion such as linear profiled guideways, measuring systems, gear racks, slides and miniature tables as well as mineral casting, precision positioning systems and ball screws.
Linear guideways and profiled guideways
Linear roller guideways from SCHNEEBERGER always means high quality. They cover a significant part of application areas with their wide range of standard linear roller guideways.
SCHNEEBERGER uses its high precision profiled linear guideways (rollers or ball monorail guideways) worldwide for a wide range of applications in mechanical engineering, from simple handling tasks to heavy machining processes.
High rigidity, great dynamic and static load carrying capacity, outstanding running smoothness and the total enclosure of the carriage are the main features of the monorail guideway. These properties result in higher machining rates while enhancing geometrical accuracy and surface quality of the machined workpieces. Our highly rigid monorail provides improved vibration behaviour, smaller vibration amplitudes and thus extends tool life.
Monorail BM profiled linear ball guideways the very precise monorail profiled guide ways are used worldwide in many machine tool applications. A widespread product program is covering the requirements from small manipulators till heavy chipping process monorail bm schneeberger's monorail bm ball guideway features excellent dynamic properties and many commercial benefits. Designed with a small number of cleverly arranged components, it provides for excellent running properties due to the small number of transitions in the ball tracks, which lead to very quiet running, low pulsation and low friction as well as high travel speeds. The use of a trapezoidal rail section results in an extremely rigid guideway coupled with a substantial reduction in servicing time as additional wipers can be changed without dismantling the carriage. Complete sealing of the carriage guarantees maximum reliability coupled with a long service life. This robust and economical guideway rounds off schneeberger's range of products for industrial applications with high demands on speed, reliability and consistent running properties.
Monorail bm wr/bm srthe monorail bm wr/sr systems are linear guides made from corrosion-resistant steel, and are based on the monorail bm ball profiled linear guideway. They were developed specially for specifications which would exceed the requirements of ordinary coatings for linear guideways. This is the case when the performance of the product is impaired by corrosion during processes.
In applications such as machines for foodstuffs, medical technology and clean rooms, or vacuum applications, monorail BM wr/sr products ensure that the operation of linear axes is clean, accurate, long-term and free of problems. Furthermore, the monorail wr/sr has the same tried and tested properties of the monorail bm, such as the most effective operating characteristics, high travel speeds and a long operating life. Sferax is a Swiss company that specialises in linear bearings manufacture. Combining its know-how with its high-level demand for quality, SFERAX produces linear bearings, shafts, guiding tables, and housing units that are reliable and have withstood the test of time.
Founded in 1957, SFERAX S.A. is a family business that has specialised in precision linear bearing solutions for three generations.
Based in Cortaillod (Switzerland), SFERAX possesses complete mastery of the entire production chain, from feasibility studies to packaging, and including machining, assembly, and quality controls. Sleeves, ball trays, tools, machinery and packaging.
Sferax Linear Bearing Product Specifications:
The dynamic load of Sferax linear bearings is usually half of a static load, with the preload specifications depending on the application of the machinery they are being used with and the dimension they are intended to fit. In general, it can be anywhere between 0.002 and 0.02mm on the shaft diameter.
The maximum movement speed for the ‘Standard’ Sferax linear ball bearing is 5 m/s, with an acceleration of 100 m/s squared (150 m/s squared for the ‘Special’ Sferax linear ball bearings). It should also be noted that in the event of ball-bearing movement, there must be a reduction of the speed at the end of the stroke.
As the Sferax linear bearings feature a significant reduction in friction, this allows any heavy loads they are managing to be shifted longitudinally with a minimum expenditure of power and energy. This makes the Sferax linear ball bearings some of the most energy and power efficient bearings on the market, hence their popularity around the world.
The bearings do require lubrication, with there being a strong preference for thin-bodied oil during high speed applications. A lithium-based grease is recommended, but again the viscosity will be entirely dependent on how much speed is being applied in the process. If it is a slower paced application, then a thicker lube is fine, but the faster the process goes the thinner the lubricant needs to be to allow the bearings to operate at full functionality.

AZI Ball Linear Motion Guide:
The GGB ball linear motion guide is the first generation of rolling linear guide and the most widely used linear guide product. Due to the 45º contact angle design, equal rated load is applied in four directions, including the vertically upward, downward, horizontally leftward and rightward directions. It is also called a four direction equal load linear motion guide.
There are two types of ball linear motion guide, interchangeable and non interchangeable. The dimensions, load capacities and other parameters of both types are identical, but the interchangeable ball linear motion guide is more user friendly and widely used in general transmission application, as the block and rail can be freely interchanged. When you move the block from the rail, it can be assembled to any other rails. However, the accuracy is lower than the non interchangeable ball linear motion guide.
The ball linear motion guide is used for machining center, NC lathe, handling equipment, EDM machines, woodworking machinery, laser processing machines, precision testing equipment, packaging machinery, food machinery, medical equipment, tool grinder, surface grinder, etc.
